2024 Complete Season Details

  • The Embassy Theatre, in collaboration with new producer Show-Benders, will stage a weekend pop-up musical for Buffyverse Josh Wedon fans August 2 – 4.  Written during the Hollywood writers’ strike of 2008 and produced exclusively for internet distribution, the plot centers around Dr. Horrible (Billy), an aspiring supervillain who documents his schemes in an online blog. In his quest to make a name for himself, he receives a letter from the Evil League of Evil, instructing him to commit murder to gain acceptance. Despite holding a “Ph.D. in Horribleness”, Dr. Horrible finds killing to be the one thing he cannot bring himself to do. As Billy, he encounters the girl of his dreams, Penny, at a Laundromat. Complicating matters, she begins dating his nemesis, Captain Hammer. Dr. Horrible’s internal struggle with his inability to commit murder, juxtaposed with his unrequited love for Penny, provides a rich tapestry of comedic and poignant moments. Penny’s romance with Captain Hammer adds another layer of complication, making for a narrative that’s as engaging as it is entertaining.
